Frequently Asked Questions
Q:What are the hours of operation?
For this Haunt Year (2014), we are open from 7:00pm to 10:00pm on these days:
October Fri 17, Sat 18, Fri 24, Sat 25, Fri 31, and November Sat 1.
Q: How long is the wait in line?
It depends on the night you visit the Haunt; Halloween night is the busiest of the year. Expect to wait in line 15-20 minutes.
Q: How long does it take to go through the Haunt?
It depends on how fast you can run... but in general, it will take about 15 minutes.
Q: Is the Haunt... scary?
Ummm... yes. So if you are fear-averse, you can purchase an Amulet (additional $5) that will instill fear in the monsters, keeping them away from you.
Q: Is the Haunt the same this year as it was in other years?
Every year Roger creates something new and changes the Haunt enough so that the experience brings new surprises.
Q: Are there refunds?
No. So think carefully before purchasing your ticket. The purpose of the Haunt is to SCARE you. So, if you scare easily, you may purchase an Amulet (additional $5) to improve your experience. Otherwise, you can wait till December, when you can go hang out with Santa Clause instead.
Even if you change your mind, even if you decide after your visit that you think it's "lame", even THEN, you still cannot have a refund. Generally, haunted houses don't give refunds - not even Netherworld!
Q: Can I use my Credit Card to pay for the tickets?
Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, and American Express, and Debit Cards. We also accept Cash. However, we don't sell tickets online. You must come to the haunt to buy your tickets.
Q: Do you offer Group Pricing?
No. Our prices are already very low, and a portion of the proceeds go to charity. However, feel free to go through the Haunt in groups!
Q: Can I buy tickets in advance?
Technically yes, as a ticket is good for ANY of the nights the Haunt is open. You could buy a ticket on Friday, but come back Saturday to use it, or the next week if you like. You can buy endless tickets from the ticket counter at the Haunt, using Cash or Credit/Debit card. However, we don't sell tickets online, and currently have no plans to do so. So if you want to buy tickets, you must buy them at the Haunt.
Also remember that tickets you buy this year are not good next year, so if you buy them, make sure you use them... or give them to someone who can!
Q: Are the monsters allowed to touch you?
As I always say, "Touch nothing and nothing shall touch you". They may follow you, but they will not touch you. If you prefer to just be left alone, you can always buy an Amulet (additional $5)!
Q: Are there strobe lights?
There is at least one in the Haunt.
Q: Is there a lot of smoke?
Some years we've used a smoke machine in a room or two. So it's possible we'll use one, but there will not be a LOT of smoke.
Q: Can I go through the Haunt if I'm pregnant?
Sure. But you might not be able to run nearly as fast as you want. Also, remember that Hayes Haunt does NOT have a public restroom.
Q: Can I wear my Halloween costume when I visit?
Yes, but masks are not allowed on patrons while they go through the Haunt.
Q: Is it dark in the Haunt?
It varies. Nearly every room has some light, and some rooms are better lit than others, but a few areas are "pitch black".
Q: Is the Haunt open if it's raining?
The Haunt is open, rain or shine. The ticket office is covered, the line area is covered, and the haunt is almost completely covered by large tents.
Q: Once we have used our ticket, can we go through again using the same ticket?
Eh... No. You must buy a ticket each time you go through the Haunt.
Q: Can we be thrown out of the Haunt?
Of course. We have rules in this place, designed to protect everyone involved - actors to victi... I mean patrons. We do not allow:
- Foul Language
- Pushing
- Vulgar Behavior
- Weapons
- Alcohol/Drugs
- Any kind of threatening behavior
Most importantly, DO NOT TOUCH THE ACTORS.
Q: Is smoking allowed?
No thank you!
Q: Can we take pictures of the Haunt?
No photography of any kind is allowed inside the Haunt. Haunted houses are dark, and flash photography hurts the eyes of the actors and other patrons.
However, you are free to take as many pictures as you want at the front of the house.
Q: Do you sell food/beverages or souvenirs?
We don't sell food or beverages, nor do we allow food or beverages in the Haunt. We find it... unpleasant... startling people while they carry a drink.
We often have memorabilia on sale at the ticket counter.
